COVID-BEST PRACTICES

Each club will be asked to send a document to the NHSL Director asking you to provide important information regarding any guidleines you may have at your field locations that are specific to a particular site. This will be supplied on the league website. The purpose of this blogspot is for people to be able to post some "best practices" that clubs have during COVID; to share information with others that you may think to be helpful.

  1. Is anyone using TeamSnap's Health Check to screen players before practices and games?

    1. Yes, for our Hamshire United U9 and U10 we use TeamSnap and have started using the Health Check in addition to temperature checks. Took a few practices to get the parents trained, but now it saves a bunch of time getting practices started.

  2. We have created a spreadsheet that the team managers hold and will keep in team binders that has the roster and then dates of sessions across the top. The manager asks the COVID questions and records the players presence for that session.

  3. Our teams are putting cones on the ground before practices and games to place players' belongings (water, masks, bags, etc.) to make sure they stay 6 feet apart. We are also asking all spectators to use face coverings for the duration of the game, along with social distancing.

  4. We have painted circles on the sideline for each player to place their belongings and this is there home where they will take breaks etc. anyone entering the field needs to wear a mask unless they are playing on the field.

  6. We have recommended that each player brings their own chair to practices/games. Coaches can help place the chairs accordingly to distance (i.e. staggered rows). Players keep their bags/belongings on their chair and when not in active gameplay they return to their own chair. Will let you know how this works out.
